SAMSKARA

Association for Peace, Love and Integration

Dr. Mohanambal dedicates her entire energy to healing and teaching the people who come in contact with her, either as patients in her clinic in Barcelona and around the world, or through her prayers and her books, lectures and seminars. Her work as a doctor is based on studies and research in Western medicine, and on the ancient science of Ayurveda that joins medicine, music, and art, our bodies and our intelligence, as parts of the whole of our spiritual life.

She founded the Samskara Institute, a non-profit organization, with a group of people that includes artists, scientists, teachers and experts in the natural food industry, to support and make known to the public her research in the areas of spiritual growth and healing, and as a way of participating in the growing climate of change and social integration happening in Spain in recent years.

Through the incredible opportunity presented by the Forum of Cultures 2004 in Barcelona, the Samskara Assiciation entered into public life by conducting a series of lectures and workshops co-sponsored by the Parliament of the World's Religions (7-13 of July, 2004).

The Samskara Association is based on the search for new ways of reinforcing the integration, liberty and equality of all human beings.

We believe that it is essential to work toward the collaboration and integration of different religious beliefs as well as communication, respect and liberty of expression for all of the cultures and traditions of this planet. Our differences are our wealth if we live as brothers and collaborate on all levels, with all people, groups and countries of the world.

We also join in support of the continuing investigation of Dr. Mohanambal and of other members of Samskara in the areas of health, art and cience and spirituality, as a way of making life more creative, more abundant, more just, and especially more loving and humane, and as a way of creating a real peace on our planet that will allow us to evolve to the best of our spiritual capacity.

Samskara is open to new members, or to associates and helpers. Member quota is 60 euros twice a year, associates pay whatever they can contribute, and helpers can give of their time, their talents, their ideas to help organize activities. The symbolism of light, illumination and intelligence for the Universe, makes this one of the most important events of the year.

Fire Ceremony and Hindu Pooja for World Peace

As one of the opening ceremonies of the Parliament of the World's Religions, we will organize a special ceremony, or "Yagna", an ancient Hindu ritual to invoke the Gods, angels or other celestial beings to illuminate and bless the international meeting, and to bring peace to the world.

Workshop on Joy (where is there room for depression?)

A presentation of Dr. Mohanambal's work on depression, recently presented in an International congress in Rome, sponsored by the Vatican.

Exhibition of Rangoli

A Rangoli is a special kind of Mandala that is made in the south of India using flowers, fragrances and colored pigments. It is a way of protecting and purifying the home, and honors the divine energies, connecting us in harmony with the mother earth and the forces of nature. This exhibition will be made in the courtyard of the Forum 2004 buildings in collaboration with a group of Catalans who are making traditional flower carpets.

Workshop on the use of Aromas and Fragrances

Dr. Mohanambal is a specialist in Ayurveda, the 5,000 year old medical science of India, as well as Homeopathy and Aromapathy. She manufactures her own medicines, creams, oils, and natural cosmetics. Her workshop brings this subtle knowledge of natural substances to the study of aromatherapy.

Aromas and fragrances have been used throughout history as aids to relaxation and physical well-being, and part of religious ceremonies. This workshop was first given as an pre-activity of the Forum 2004 in a juvenile prison in Barcelona with a largely Islamic population. As a celebration for the end of Ramadan, representatives of Islam, Christianity and Hinduism gave presentations and demonstrations on the ways that aromas are used in the different spiritual traditions.
